In my previous post, I began explaining why I’m skipping Christmas this year. At least the decorating part. Now it’s confession time. We’re going to Disney World! That’s right; I’m skipping the stress of decorating, partying, and baking so my family can visit the Happiest Place on Earth – not to mention the most commercialized!

Yes, I’m a hypocrite. I admit it. I’m exchanging non-commercialism at home for the Ultimate Commercial Adventure (they should give that name to one of the rides at Disney World—or maybe Universal Studios).

But allow me to plead my case: I’m going to be with my family 24/7. And we’re going to have fun (whether we want to or not. Because, gosh darn it, Disney World is the Happiest Place on Earth. We are determined to have fun!). My husband and sons love nothing better than Disney World (I think they could live there).

As for me, I’ll be ecstatic to have an Internet-free vacation. Unless, of course, my hotel has a free Internet connection. In that case, I may feel compelled to post some pictures of us having the time of our lives at Disney World. But don’t expect to hear from me for a couple of weeks. I’m experiencing blogging burnout and writing burnout in general, and I need a break.

One recent morning, when I had just dragged myself out of bed to work out on my treadmill, I glanced out the window and gasped in awe as I beheld a gorgeous sunrise. The pink-hued sky captivated me so much that I snapped a photo of it.

As I gazed at the sky, I felt God’s voice whisper to me, “Daughter, I created this just for you to enjoy.”

For me, that sunrise epitomized the meaning of Christmas. God created the world for us to enjoy and steward, just because He loves us. God sent His only son to live among us—a son who sacrificed his life so that we might live eternally with our Father—just because He loves us.

As I enjoy the next couple of weeks with my family, I’m going to hold that sunrise–and its meaning—close to my heart.

What fun! We’re going in February (we have a timeshare in Orlando).

If this is your first trip to DW, I’d recommend you check out Tourguide Mike — an online DW trip planning service. He offers LOADS of information about the best way to hit each of the parks, and on the days and times that are least crowded. It’s $21, I think — but worth every penny.

    Have fun!
