Today has gone smoother than could ever have been anticipated … so naturally, we’re waiting for a little rain to fall. Enter nighttime!
First up: Newly dubbed Mom battles ethnic hair! I have some pretty unruly ethnic hair myself, so I came prepared! And, I knew my daughter had a tender head. We managed to get by with only a few tears. It’s not a perfect job, but it’s just for bedtime anyway.
While I do this, hubby bathes our youngest son. All goes well! Since my daughter hears that my oldest son wants to take a shower, she decides she does too! So, ladies first and off we go to shower! I give her some of my special shower gel, and off we go!
We all meet up in the living room where my daughter sports her post-shower turban in an effort to make the boys crack up. Her plan works brilliantly! Then comes Round Two of “The Great Comb-Out!” The hair and comb win, but just barely, and my daughter shows off her braids to the guys, who approve.
We have a family prayer, then the boys have their own prayer time while the girls have theirs.
My youngest insists that he sleep next to my oldest son. Though my oldest wanted to stay up for some alone time with Mom and Dad, still unused to having sibs, he agrees and my daughter insists on sleeping with the boys and directing where everyone will sleep. My oldest has to be in the middle, as both new sibs want to be near him!
After a story, it’s time for bed … Sleep does not come easily ..except to the one who thought he would be up the latest! Our newest two, quite naturally, have a difficult time getting to sleep in a new house with new people.
My son has a pretty funky cough due to some sinus congestion. The foster mom told us that his meds would knock him out, but the excitement of the day keeps that from happening easily.
After laying next to him, rocking him, letting him watch a little television … he finally falls asleep about an hour after the other two.
Exhaustedly, we all sleep … (until time to check my oldest son's blood sugar) .. Tomorrow is a new day!
