Yesterday you heard about the newly formed “
Worthy Women Club”. Today, I’ll tell you about it’s male counterpart, “The Righteous Dude Organization.”
After forming the Worthy Women Club yesterday, “sissy” tried to form a club for her “bubbies” and called it the “Worthy Men Club.” It didn’t have quite the right ring for them, so I suggested the “Righteous Dude Organization” and it was met with enthusiasm, so it stayed!
As I
predicted, I was able to use codes to help my daughter remember to use kind words. She was often heard telling the boys what “worthy women” and “worthy men” do (she wasn’t sold on “The Righteous Dude Organization", and made some last ditch attempts to have it as “The Worthy Men Club"). By the same token, my oldest was overheard to remind her what “worthy women” and “righteous dudes” do.
It’s been great to have the kids watch out for each other spiritually. Oftentimes, as it is with siblings, biological or not, there is a great deal of “tattling” and telling on each other. And though this is expressly forbidden in our household, the kids find “creative ways” of trying to justify why so and so needed to be out-ed. Generally speaking however, they usually meet the spirit of this house rule, and try to honor it the best they can. With the "Worthy Women Club" and "Righteous Dude Organization", the kids are helping to remind each other about spiritual issues.
As advertised, my daughter kept to her resolve that she and I have a time to read our Bibles together. Then, tonight, my youngest son and his dad had their time to read a verse together, after our usual family prayer time at bedtime. My youngest had some issues with his hearing, which have translated to some lack of clarity in some of his speech. We’re working with him around this, and already we’ve seen the improvement in his speech. He also, like many not-quite-five-year-olds, has issues with when to use “she” versus “her.” So, hubby decided that he would read a verse each night that has the word “her” in it, so he can hear the word in its proper context. We also get quite a kick out of hearing him say "righteous dude!" We've explained that righteous means doing right.
We feel so blessed that we have three children who clearly love God, and take His word seriously! It’s wonderful to see them reaching out to Him, and seeking out what He has to say for their lives!
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13)
