Occasionally, several things of note will happen in a week. Not big enough to merit an entire post, but I mish-mosh them together like our traditional
Pancake Saturday. Here is this week's round-up:
Pee Problem Past-Tense!: We’ve been using the
kitchen timer suggestion for almost a month now, and the pee problem appears to be a thing of the past. Even though we didn’t set out for it to solve the nighttime issues, it has, since her bladder is completely empty at night. It’s been so successful that we’ve been able to wean off of the timer and still experience success! It was a very low-key, no punishment, non-issue, and it’s been a true blessing because of all the other
sickness and
Life Craziness we’ve experienced in recent weeks (and maybe having our focus elsewhere has helped, too!).
Funny Biblical Blooper of the Week: In true Birth Order fashion, my youngest is
a clown, often intentionally, but many times not. Tonight was one of those hysterical moments of unintentional hilarity. We were watching Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards. Popular super-teen, Miley Cyrus, who openly acknowledges her belief in God, thanked Jesus in one of her acceptance speeches. We got so excited to hear this, that we began jumping around and talking about God! Somehow, my youngest must have gotten a garbled transmission, because for quite awhile after that, he kept looking at the TV and asking, “When is God coming on?”
My calendar runneth over: Because two of my three children have special needs (and both have more than one condition each!), we have a bazillion doctor’s appointments in any given month. As you may remember, I have ADD, so many of the articles I write on
organization are really written to help me stay on top of all of this! This week was no exception. In fact, this week was a little crazier than usual. My husband is a computer programmer, and until recently worked as an independent contractor with one of his clients. As a contractor, the benefits offered him did not include the hospital we are established at due to my son’s medical condition. We had been paying out of pocket to keep this particular insurance for him. However, now that he has signed on as a direct hire with the company itself, we can all affiliate with this particular hospital. Though the Big Fancy-Shmancy World Class Hospital to the North was wonderful, the insurance carrier to utilize it was not, thus we’re all moving back to our former plan (and thankful to God we even had choices that both of these plans offered!). If you have ever had to transfer medical records, you will understand the particular “joy” I had this week transferring medical records for not one, but two children new to the plan. Records from the Big Hospital to the North, as well as my daughter’s entire file from her previous home state! She has two appointments coming up next month - one with her medical specialist, and one with her new therapist. I wanted to get a jump on the records transfers, in hopes they might get there before the appointments!
