In the previous three posts, I reviewed parenting blogs that were recommended in the book,
Blogosphere: Best of Blogs, by Peter Kuhns and Adrienne Crew. The blogs just keep coming!
Parenting Blogs
More Parenting Blogs
Even More Parenting Blogs
A personal aside: What’s with all the swearing on parenting blogs?! More than a few of the bloggers featured in
Best of Blogs couldn’t make it through more than a sentence or two without using the “F” word and a wide assortment of other unsavory language.
Are these people not creative enough to think of descriptive words? Are they just lazy? Or are they trying to impress readers with their trashy, high schoolish vocabulary? It makes me wonder what kind of language these parents are teaching their children. Call me an arrogant prig (or insert a swear word of your choice), but I won’t be featuring writers who swear profusely on their blogs.
Dot Moms - http://roughdraft.typepad.com/dotmoms/
This group blog has about 40 mom contributors from around the world, and includes discussions about birth, breastfeeding, childcare, divorce, potty training, empty nesting, and more. The style is “momoirish.”
The Mommy Blog - http://themommyblog.net/
Written by single mom Mindy Roberts, this funky, spunky blog details Mindy’s “adventures from the underbelly of motherhood.”
The Blue Sloth – http://www.artweld.blogs.com/
Philip, a full-time dad to three kids, ages 6, 4, and 2, is an excellent writer whose blog includes a nice mixture of humor, photos, and personal reflections. The blog’s design is gray writing on a black background, which, frankly, is hard for me to read. But other than the minor design flaw, Philip’s blog is intriguing.
Daddy Types - http://www.daddytypes.com/
Greg’s posts in this blog for new dads are snappy and smart. He includes a lot of “juvenile product” reviews (in other words, furniture for kids) and he even has a category for adoption.
