This has been yet another week of crisis for our family, not just one, but two crises! I’m tired. I’m sleep deprived. But guess what? I haven’t been Mean Mama Menopause. And, you know what else? The kids have risen to the occasion, as well!

On top of everything I’ve had to deal with this week, I honestly thought the kids would just bicker, and fuss, and grate on each other’s nerves until we all imploded. And, while, yes, last I looked, they were still “just” kids and had a bit of all that going on from time to time, they hung together. They voluntarily offered to help each other, and then followed through on their word. There wasn’t the usual griping at the homeschool table in the dining room. They have played together nicely, looked after each other, and helped prepare meals and other chores around the house! In fact, as I write this, they are happily playing in another room, cooperatively building “The Ultimate [Train] Track!” I hear comments peppered with, “May I please have that piece?” and, “Thank you!” And the shocker of all shockers? Nary a whine has been heard! I hope the Pod People don’t come back for these kids, because I’m keeping them!

All three memorized a verse this morning for school, (then hung the verse on their bedroom doors), and it seems to have taken root:

I can do all things though Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)

For the longest time, we’ve had a “family cheer’ that we do every night after evening devotionals. Because this last crisis was so disorienting, we have been saying, “Team Wildcats….We’re all in this together” (from Disney’s “High School Musical”). Today they proved just that…we are all in this together! And, as always, God will see us through!
