My youngest son is under the weather with a cough that has side-lined him for a couple of days. Though the boys love their “Sissy” to death, they tend to play with each other for most of the day. Sissy will join in for periods of time, then drift off to play with her dolls. You might see the boys ask to come into her room later on in the day to play with her, but for the most part, the boys have found their soulmates, sibling-wise, in each other.
With their younger “Bubbie” quarantined to his room with ample videos and CDs to keep him occupied, my oldest son and my daughter are the only playmates the other has! Today marks Day Two that the two have not only played together, but done so nicely and without the tattling on each other that is such a hallmark of their relationship!
Most of yesterday was spent in my oldest’s room, building elaborate structures, and watching DVDs. Today was more of a “kick-back” day, with each enjoying their own pursuits together companionably. After completing her schoolwork, Sissy watched TV, while her older Bubbie read a book I assigned him for homeschool.
My oldest loves to cook. He will make breakfast for the kids, and often asks if he can make lunch as well. He loves experimenting with different sandwich combinations. Today was no different, except that their younger brother was quarantined at meal-time, so he didn’t get to socialize with the older two (something I think ended up being a good thing, since the three goof off terribly at lunch – perhaps because the younger two have “Quiet Time” immediately following their meal!).
Both kids would go over to their younger Bubbie’s door, by turns, and talk to him from the doorway, and check on him. But, by and large, they spent some valuable time bonding together, and it was a joy to behold (and be-hear!).
