Today was truly a Love Thursday at Casa Stro! From the moment they got up, my sons were glued at the hip. They played (nicely!) together; they had a mock rock concert with dueling guitars, and my youngest watched my oldest in awe during Lego Robotics
FLL Team Practice today. Interspersed throughout the day were liberal, “Hey, Buddy!” “You’re my Buddy!” and “I love you, Buddy!” comments from one to the other. While the “buddies” declared their love for each other, they would lay their heads on the other’s shoulders and link their arms. It was truly a sight to behold!
When it was time for Homeschool Chess, my oldest did not want to leave my youngest to go to his lesson. When we returned, he was greeted with shrieks of joy by his younger brother. When it seemed that his younger brother may have damaged a favorite video game, my oldest downplayed it, when not too long ago, he would definitely have flipped out about it! Times, they are a-changin’!
Though my topic today is brotherly love, I do have to mention that my oldest son showed the truest love of all toward his sister this morning. She had a very rough day most of the day yesterday - several tantrums and a rage. During the rage, she said a lot of really, really hurtful things – things that had both of her brothers in tears.
However, first thing this morning when my oldest saw her, he said, “I love you, even though you said those things…and I know you didn’t mean them” and gave her a hug! Now that’s love!
We’re a little over a month into our new family configuration, and though excruciatingly difficult and draining at times, one thing has remained constant – the children truly have bonded and love each other tremendously!
