Love Thursday - A Potpurri

Like Pancake Saturday, today had a lot of variety!

We got wonderful news regarding our oldest son’s newest condition: The MRI came back normal. I don’t know exactly what this means, as I found out via my e-mailed query to his pediatric neurologist. So, I don’t know if it means the seizures have resolved themselves and he no longer is classified as one who suffers from seizure disorder/epilepsy; or if it just means there is no current “abnormal activity” as was the case with the EEG a few weeks ago.

Whatever the case, the doctor seemed to be extremely pleased, if the tone of his e-mail was anything to go by! I’ve sent questions for clarification, but for now, we’re just happy at this turn of events, that came, ironically, as we were preparing to leave for his first epilepsy support group meeting!

I know this is because he has been constantly lifted up in prayer. Everyday I get e-mails, calls and questions about how he’s doing. People tell me all the time how they are praying for him, or they’ve asked their prayer group to include him. All I know is that the Bible is true when it says, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16).

Just in time for Love Thursday: We were sitting at the diner after dance class today. It’s one of those retro diners with the mini-jukebox at every tabletop. My kids love music, and especially “the oldies.” Two of my three are currently in a homeschool choir, and a couple of their songs were on the jukebox, so they were rocking out having a great time singing and bopping around (the waiter even joined in!). Then, Roy Orbison’s “Pretty Woman” came on. My son pointed to me and said, “Pretty mama! That’s you!” Awwwwww! In fact, another patron of the restaurant overheard and said, “Awwww!” as well! However, I think my son had it mixed up a bit, as Roy says nothing about a pretty mama! I think he’s thinking of the story we often tell (and there is video evidence that upon my death must be destroyed!) of me singing The Doobie Brother’s classic, “Old Black Water” to my oldest when he was a baby (and, if you are old enough to be familiar with the song, it does have something in there about “pretty mama”). Nonetheless, when your child calls you pretty mama, you can’t really argue (especially knowing that there is no vanity when you are a parent…they will point out every blemish, every facial hair, every pound sotto voce in the most public place possible)!
