Our lawyer’s office called us this morning with the news we have longed to hear – we have a potential court date! Yes, Lord willing, by the end of this month, the hubby and I will officially have two more children!
Naturally there are contingencies (hence the "potential court date"). All parties to the adoption need to be
served, and assuming everyone gets served on the day we’re shooting for, our adoption will be finalized this month. If not, we will have to wait a week or so, which will push us into next month, just a few days past my soon-to-be-official daughter’s birthday. We had hoped to be back here at home to celebrate her birthday, but we will need to wait for
Interstate Compact to kick in, post-decree. I think this delay is also a “God thing” in the sense that I know she has been feeling a little wigged out at the prospect of leaving her beloved foster family, and this will allow us a “transition” birthday, with both her foster and adoptive parents in attendance.
After we get home and transition a bit, I hope to put together some footage of my daughter’s birthday for her first/birth mother and first/birth grandmother. This is one of the things I agreed to do for them, and I do it lovingly, and don’t look upon it as a “gotta,” but rather a “wanna.”
So, now is the last minute dash to do all the things we feel compelled to, to get things “just so” … most are superfluous … we’ve been ready for ages, but you never really “feel” like it! We’re also doing a few things with our oldest son, since our time “alone” with just the three of us is rapidly coming to an end. His 9th birthday was earlier this week, and it was a trifle sad for his dear old mother. He didn’t really want toys anymore … he wanted an MP3 player and a custom skateboard. Where is my baby???? He still loves a good snuggle, and that’s great because he’s getting two cuddlebunnies pretty soon. He’s very excited at the prospect and has really been talking about them a lot lately; as well as positive talk about being a big brother and his readiness for it.
Woo hoo! I’m gonna be a mama to three soon!
