Love Saturday - The Love Letter Arrives!

OK, as the "new blogger on the block," I missed out on this whole Love Thursday thing. But it's "Love Saturday" here at Casa Stro - the long-awaited "love letter" I discussed in my first post here at AdoptionBlogs arrived today!

We got two precious little letters from our daughter! One you will see below; the other has our names and a big, red heart and her signature.

My letters to her often involve "big girl homework" - some small thing for her to do, for which I send her stickers. Her foster mom sends me her report cards from kindergarten, so I send "big girl homework" to reinforce a concept she's struggling with (her last bit of homework involved circling all the "Y"s in my letter to her - a letter she was having trouble with - and she found all of them ... even one her foster mom missed!). Given that, I think that is why she included some "scholarly" drawing in the love letter! Proof positive that all of the things we've attempted in our bonding with her (the calls, letters, instruction) are taking root and producing fruit!

Marie:

Just one example of something that I tried (with mixed success) to explain to people before our adoption was final. Before other people see you as a mother, you already are a mother, doing what is best for your child; whether that is helping with school work, or preserving yourself in patience through a difficult wait, because that is what your child needs. 14 Hearts worth of love is wonderful!

Thanks, Natalie! I know what you mean! I also picked up on what I thought was a pretty significant speech/hearing issue. Sure enough, my son had a chronic sinus infection that was affecting his hearing! No hearing loss, thankfully, but glad I pursued it with his social worker & foster mom! :)
