Great post! I'm sorry to hear about your son. But you've captured the mystery of how His grace gives us that peace that passes understanding!

Thanks, Coley! We're almost a week into the Keppra, and so far, so good. He's at the lowest possible dose (and still seizure-free), and we increase at the one week mark (Tuesday). We have the MRI tomorrow, so hopefully we will know more soon...

My parented son has epilepsy too. Finding a medication that worked for Noah was a long road; I'm praying that it won't be a long road for your son.

They don't think so. He had a seizure the day after he was born due to the placental abruption I suffered. He was without oxygen for awhile, and the next morning, he had a seizure. They think it may have damaged part of the brain. He said that the high temps from the ear infection may have triggered them, but that it's common for the seizures to lie dormant until the child is around 10 or so, because the brain begins to mature and tries to access new areas of the brain that until previously (in its immature state) had not needed to be accessed. We'll know more when we go for the MRI on Monday.

Glad for news, I was getting worried about you! Do you think maybe he was having petite seizures before and you didn't notice? Maybe like staring off into space? We thought my niece had outgrown hers at puberty, but then at 21 she had a couple of seizures. We think it was brought on by life stressers she was dealing with at the time. J
